Vincy's Wedding

The main reason why we came to Hong Kong was for my eldest cousin Vincy‘s wedding, and we were late…. We had to catch a cab from Causeway Bay over to Kowloon Tong, which is a fair way, and being a saturday meant that traffic was going to be bad… I’m not sure sure how long it took us, cause I fell asleep during the taxi ride, but the driver didn’t know too well where to go, but we eventually found it and wandered in a few minutes before the Bride strolled down the aisle. Now the ceremony was conducted in Cantonese which made it a little difficult to understand what was going on, but the important thing is that they both said the equivalent of “I Do”. Post ceremony we had a chance to catch up with family, some of whom I hadn’t seen for 3 years, since my other cousin Isabel‘s wedding. And we had a bit of a muck around with some photo shoots…

After things had finished up here, we went to catch a taxi back over to Causeway Bay, around 4pm… Bad time for a taxi ride… This was changeover time, and seeing as we were on the mainland side a fair lot of the taxi’s wouldn’t take us, or didn’t stop to pick us up, or were snaked by other wedding guests…. We eventually got one and made it back over, by which time I had a massive headache, so off to bed for me for the time being, until it was time to get up and head to the reception…

The wedding Reception was held at the Shangri-La in Tsim Sha Tsui, and this time we’d left plenty of time to depart and arrive, mainly because this time we caught the MTR, but this also meant that we had to walk a fairly long way to get to the P exit for the Shangri-La. When we trundled in, Mum and Dad did this whole traditional Tea Ceremony thing where the bride and groom both serve tea to extended in-laws and they in turn receive something… Then we had a photo with the bride and groom before doing another little shoot with my uncle Young Man and his family around the place… When it was finally time to be seated we went through the standard kind of wedding banquet, which I believe had 12 courses… had a brides side photo and toasted the bride and groom a few times, once with the extended in-laws who do a table-by-table round…
When everything was all said and done, it was time to go back to Causeway Bay for our last night in Hong Kong and some serious packing to be done…
