Yet another loving letter from John, and again he mentions this great Joy:

3 John 1:4:- I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth

The meat of this letter is quite different to the previous two. It firstly encourages the support of those that do the work of God, which is a great thing:

3 John 1:7,8:- For they have gone out for the sake of the name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth

Secondly it mentions some kind of struggle within the Church, which is not helpful;

3 John 1:10:- … I will bring up what he (Diotrephes) is doing, talking wicked nonsense against us. And not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers, and also stops those who want to and puts them out of the church.

The sign-off is once again a very personal one, wanting to see the readers in person rather than writing to them.
