Passage: Genesis 42:1-38
Here we see the ‘reunion‘ of Joseph with his brothers, though they don’t know it, not recognising Joseph. It is a fulfilment of Joseph’s first dream as they bow down to him..
There’s also a slight story of revenge here as Joseph accuses his brothers of being spies, though he does the sneaky of putting their gold back in their sacks; it’s hard to say why though… Did he not want their money for the grain? or did he want them to feel guilty? Perhaps it was a bit of both…
The response talks about trying to look good when feeling miserable and how this can be a problem faced by many Christians, but we need to admit when we are in the wrong or feeling miserable, because that’s when we can and should get help. We need to realise that it’s only because of our weakness that we need God’s saving.
