iTunes Fail…

So I’m an avid consumer of Apple products, and they push a lot through their online stores now (iTunes & App), and I also enjoy a good discount; so when I found BigW selling their iTunes cards at 25% off, I grabbed a whole bunch, which arrived in the mail this morning.

The latest Mountain Lion update (10.8.3) adds, amongst other features, The ability to redeem iTunes gift cards in the Mac App Store using your Mac’s built-in camera. This is a great feature as entering in the 16 alphanumeric code can be a bit of a hassle. It’s not an entirely new feature, as it was introduced in iTunes 11.

Armed with my Macbook Air (updated to 10.8.3) and iTunes cards I go to load up my account with a bunch of iTunes credit; peeling the card off the backing cardboard, carefully removing the sticky label to reveal the code, opening up the App store and signing into my account, and loading up the redeem section. To my surprise, I find this screen

What I was hoping to find was this screen

A quick check of my Air’s camera found it to be working, I checked to see if the case was the same in iTunes 11; it was, and then it was off to Google to tell me what had gone wrong…

A number of forum posts later, I found that Australia is not a place where this feature is available…

APPLE FAIL

I’m hoping that the Australian stores are updated soon with this feature. I can’t see why it shouldn’t be available, seeing as it’s been something available since December 2012…
